University of Pennsylvania The Accolade on Chestnut
Hunter Roberts is a member of the Turn-key Development Team, headed by Greystar, that was selected by the University of Pennsylvania for the complete gut and rehabilitation of two interconnected apartment-style towers formerly known as Sansom Place East.
The 255,000 SF, 23-story building is located at 3600 Chestnut Street on a 55,000 SF site. All 473-units (588 beds) were renovated, with its primary use continuing as graduate student housing, with a rich amenity base. Each bed has a corresponding private bathroom, including in the 2-bedroom units, and each unit has its own washer/dryer. The scope included more than 12,000 SF of state-of-the-art amenity space such as a fitness center, co-working lounges, a test kitchen, study rooms, and large multi-function rooms.
The outdoor plaza was fully renovated with a deck, landscaping, hardscaping, and seating along with an indoor-outdoor connection to the new amenity space. The exterior facade of the current towers was maintained, with all windows replaced.
The building adjoins a separate building that houses the Institute for Contemporary Art which remained open during construction.
