The Queens Dismantle & Swing Space is a NYC DDC design-build project that is part of the Borough Based Jails (closing Rikers Island) program.The primary scope of work is the deconstruction of the 160,000 SF existing Queens House of Detention.The House of Detention is a concrete encased steel building with mansonry walls.The project scope includes several enabling projects required to be completed prior to starting the dismantling.These projects include ‘De-Coupling’ the House of Detention from the existing court buildings and a Temporary Vehicular Sallyport to transfer persons in custody into the courthouse while the existing jail is being dismantled.
