This new outpatient treatment facility was built on a 165,000-SF parcel of land located in the southwest corner of the Nassau Events Center, home of Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Scope called for construction of the two-story cancer center, a pre-cast parking garage providing 450 spaces, and extensive site utility tie-ins including communications, water, gas, and electric. The cancer center’s program includes radiology, lymphedema, infusion, radiation oncology with three LINACs and the option of adding a fourth, laboratory and quick treatment areas, along with office space, administration space, and public lobby/waiting areas. Lightwells in the center of the building and additional skylights will provide natural light to much of the facility. The exterior of the cancer center incorporates two façade types while one wall of the parking garage will include a green façade. Founded in 1884, MSK is the world’s oldest and largest private cancer center with 24 locations spread across the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area. It is renowned for its exceptional patient care and its dedication to innovative research and is a designated comprehensive cancer center by the National Cancer Institute.
