Pier 40 is the largest and one of the most active piers in Manhattan. It currently houses a sports complex which includes a multi-use outdoor turf field as well as indoor sports facilities. Pier 40 is also home to the Hudson River Park Trust. Hunter Roberts Construction Group was responsible for performing substructure restorations to the pier. These restorations included the installation of structural pile encasements as well as vertical and overhead spall repairs.

Logistically the volume of pedestrian use required the careful coordination of construction efforts in order to maintain facility operations during the course of construction. Project phasing included the management of eight separate segments of work in order for the facility to maintain tenant operations.
