Drexel University Kelly Hall Expansion & Renovation
Hunter Roberts performed the renovation and expansion of an existing 11-story, 410-bed dormitory building at Drexel University. The masonry clad residential tower, constructed in the late 1960’s, consists of ten stories atop a one-story podium level compromised of common spaces and a two-bed residential director’s unit. Each floor contains 11 residential units, shared restrooms, and a two-level social lounge, while the basement includes common space, laundry facilities, storage, and mechanical rooms.
The project scope included site excavation for the Commons at Kelly Hall, a two-floor building addition that provides students with new community spaces, study rooms, co-working space, and an academic resource center; repairs and renovation of all residential units, corridors, restrooms, and lounges; replacement of the residence hall’s substation and roof; landscape improvements; and HVAC/MEP system upgrades.
Our advance work contract consisted of a complete interior demolition, window replacement, and facade restoration.
