28 Liberty Building-Wide Repositioning
Opened in 1964 as One Chase Manhattan Plaza, this building contains a sizable retail footprint and direct access to the 2/3 subway. The 60-story office tower was declared a New York City Landmark in 2009. Fosun purchased the building from Chase and renamed it 28 Liberty in 2013. Plans for the site focused on three primary projects: to execute enabling work that sets the site and team up for the substantial renovation projects to come, to overhaul existing infrastructure, and to modernize and open the underground retail capability of the building and the existing public plaza. Scope included demolition, MEP relocations, abatement, new electric bus duct driver, new chiller, refurbishment of the existing chiller, renovation of all 34 elevator cabs, plaza restoration, ADA-compliant ramps, new sidewalks, lobby upgrades, new glass storefront, new entrances, lighting, landscaping, and high-end finishes to the retail area.
