Hunter Roberts provided construction management services for the construction of Viceroy New York. Construction of the West 57th Street hotel required the demolition of an existing, 12-story building which was in use as a community center and the building of a new, 29-story, 133,000-SF facility with 250 guestrooms.  An entirely new Con Ed Vault was placed inside an existing vaulted space underneath the sidewalk adjacent to the building.  Some of the hotel’s amenities include the following:

  • Full pool and spa (excavated out of the midtown rock, some of the hardest in the world)
  • Fitness Center
  • Bar
  • Restaurant with skylights
  • Rooftop event space bar

The exterior wall is comprised of custom oversized loft-style windows on the north face with black-glazed brick, precast panels surrounding them, exposed concrete walls on the east and west facades, and a window and panelized system at the rear yard.  The logistics were complex with this project.  There is a 60 foot frontage on 57th Street.  Governing agencies had a high amount of scrutiny, especially DOT, which required a very sophisticated logistics plan involving a dual hoist in the back of the lot piercing through the second floor setback.
