Hunter Roberts Construction Group engaged in a Lump Sum CM Agreement with Forest City Ratner Companies for the interior fit-out of the 120,000-SF Spruce Street School from the New York City School Construction Authority.  Hunter Roberts provided pre-construction services, including site logistics, phasing plan development, scheduling, budget analysis and construction services.  A major challenge was to fit-out the new school during ongoing construction of the New York by Gehry condominium tower. Hunter Roberts oversaw the construction of the Spruce Street School to ensure that it was completed and ready for the Fall 2011 school year.

A summary of the Spruce Street School’s scope is as follows:

  • First floor consists of the Main Lobby, Kitchen, Student Dining area, and Principal’s Office
  • The Mezzanine consists of Mechanical Space
  • The Second Floor consists of the Stage and Auditorium, Kindergarten, the Medical Suite, and Special
  • Ed classrooms
  • The Third Floor consists of the Gym, Locker Rooms, and 1st through 4th Grade Classrooms
  • The Fourth Floor consists of Library, Science Rooms, and 5th through 8th Grade Classrooms
  • The Fifth Floor consists of the Custodian’s Workshop and Store Room
