Hunter Roberts performed construction management services for PS 264, a new, four-story, 73,000-SF primary school in Brooklyn, NY. The scope of work included the asbestos abatement and demolition of three pre-existing buildings (two comprised of brick, and one steel), the removal and disposal of 1,000 tons of petroleum-contaminated soil and two petroleum storage tanks (one below ground and one above ground). The foundation system required the installation of dozens of 50-ton capacity micro piles, pile caps, grade beams, and foundation walls. The exterior façade consists of masonry (featuring four types of brick), glass block, cast stone sills and copings, metal panels, and punched windows. An IRMA roof, including rooftop air conditioning units, was applied. The scope of the interior fit-out included the construction of classroom spaces, an art room, science laboratories, a kitchen, a cafeteria, a library, a playground, and a gym and auditorium – both of which include isolated spring floors.
